This great traditional kiwi icon has been enjoyed by many generations of New Zealanders. Originally manufactured by Bonza Confectionery this product in its earlier days was known as a candy cigarette. Carousel purchased Bonza Confectionery in 2006 and removed the red tip from the end of Spaceman.
From the great feedback we have had from customers, we appreciate the red end would have had little influence on people’s decision to smoke later in life. However, as a family business with family values we just couldn’t continue placing that red end on the Spaceman. We really didn’t want this cool little product to be connected in any way with advocating smoking – especially to our younger customers.
